Computational Modeling of Neural Circuits
Mathematical models of brain rhythm generation and neural dynamics
During my PhD with Dr. Frances Skinner, I developed computational models to understand how different neuron types contribute to brain rhythm generation. This work combined experimental data with mathematical modeling.
Key Contributions:
- Identified essential cellular mechanisms for network rhythm generation
- Revealed how different inhibitory neurons influence hippocampal theta oscillations
- Developed new approaches for constraining computational models with experimental data
This foundation in computational neuroscience informs my current experimental work, allowing me to connect neural activity patterns to behavior and theory.
